A Bit About Me...

Owner's phtos

When I went through treatment for breast cancer in 2009, consisting of bilateral mastectomy, chemo, radiation and hormone therapy, I had not yet come up with the Halo idea. I thought about it, but during those years of treatment, my brain was foggy and motivation low.

As a hair designer since the late '70's, an educator and salon owner, I've seen many versions of substitute hair. For years wig companies have sold velcro strips with imitation hair attached to stick in a hat or turban. Sadly, they are still just synthetic hair - too thick and clumpy and don't look anything like you.  Instead, why not figure out how to use all of your hair falling to the floor? Oh, and how about we feel comfortable while we're trying to look less sick......

The process is always undergoing changes and improvements, kind of like the changes that go along with being a cancer veteran. I prefer the term "veteran" over "survivor"; it feels less like being stuck all alone on an island. There are far too many of us out here to be adrift.
